Dear Subscribers,
Happy Mothers Day! Being a writing mentor is a lot like being a mother. I’m here to cajole, console, praise, inspire, nag and critique, all in the most loving way.
So it’s only fitting that today I’m announcing a brand new addition to my Substack publication: the Writer's Journey subscriber chat.
This is a conversation space in the Substack app that I set up exclusively for my subscribers — kind of like a group chat or live hangout. I’ll post short prompts, thoughts, and updates on writing craft, creative process and associated topics and invite you to jump into the discussion.
To join our chat, you’ll need to download the Substack app, now available for both iOS and Android. Chats are sent via the app, not email, so turn on push notifications so you don’t miss conversation as it happens.
How to get started
Download the app by clicking this link or the button below. Substack Chat is now available on both iOS and Android.
Open the app and tap the Chat icon. It looks like two bubbles in the bottom bar, and you’ll see a row for my chat inside.
That’s it! Jump into my thread to say hi, and if you have any issues, check out Substack’s FAQ.
oh, I love Melb, lived my formative years there doing theatre at The Pram Factory and La Mama. I'm in Sydney. Yes, so far in feb/ mar 2024 we have Morocco and Japan. Then in July we are going back to the Aust desert a two week trip, (still in planning). Have a look here https://www.writersjourney.com.au/
Hi Jan,
Do you remember me from way, way back on the Larapinta Trail? I was the slowpoke but loved your sessions on the trail that week. I have written some poetry and flash fiction as a result of that experience and some was published. I read you often and follow your adventures but am not a great poster of posts. In the interim, Wild Dingo Press published an anthology of my short stories ("Choose Somebody Else)" and I've recently completed a magical realism novel that I think I'm finally ready to pitch. When I saw your Mother's Day post I thought I'd really like to touch base. Hope all is well with you. Yvonne Fein
