Well yes, glad to hear that Bill, was in two minds whether to dsiplay the photos at the end as I think as you say it's stronger without them. So will keep that in mind for the future. In fact I might even delete that double photo now. Thanks for your input!
I like this Jan. Especially about MD and Marj. I like your style of writing and think it can help me boost, even influence my writing in masculinity book. I'd like to share the title of my book with you but not publicly. And ... I don't believe I've see that picture of Mum. She is so determined looking. I'd love a copy.. BTW: Your travels and tenacity amaze me. Update. I went back to my masculinity book and tweaked the introduction a little. I even thought I sounded a bit like you as I wrote. You're in my book now. Hugs, your brother Pip
Enjoying your journey and learning about your mother and the similarity with MD. Really like the use of photos - both your description and seeing them.
Hi Jan, just read chapter 1 and 2. I enjoyed Chapter 2 more … I guess because it is further on your quest, but also it is more personal and interesting and flowed more freely.
While I initially expected to see the photos, Jan, I got over that and formed my own images based on your words. So effective was the descriptive writing that, in a strange way, I wished you had left words alone to do the job. How provocative it would be to describe photos but never show them! Different project, of course.
HI Craig, looks like I didn't respond to you back then, though I thought I did. Haven't been putting up so many old photos lately but reading your comment again now I am inspired to see what I can find. All best!

Thanks Craig, great to meet you here. Yes, old photos, love them!

Hi Pip, seems like I didn't see this comment before, or didI? Great to know I am in your book now. I'll send you a copy of the photo.

Thanks Christine, yes it's a toss up whether to just describe or show the photos as well!

I look forward to reading more! Best wishes ♥️
Oh thanks Maureen, that's really helpful!! Yes, MD is not everyone's cup of tea... but you probab saw the movie of her novella The Lover...
No, not seen the movie... and might not, but just downloaded the book

I’m no writer but I love a good mystery/ research project. Uncovering details of a former life, following small clues 🕵️
I am a photographer though and I love old photos. Look forward to the next chapter.
